We decided to purchase this for a 3-year-old nephew, based on the longevity of the one we've had for about six years. My son got it when he was four, he just turned ten and will still go out in the garage or driveway and ride around. It can take kids a few minutes to get the hang of it, you make small forward and back movements (maybe about 15 degrees) with the steering wheel in order to start moving. If you turn it all the way around like a steering wheel, you'll spin but you won't move forward. I don't think anyone it going to travel long distances on it, but it's been in our driveway, garage and short distances down the street regularly since we got it. We did use it indoors for a while, not good on carpeting, and it didn't seem to damage our wood floors, although they recommend you not use it on wood floors for that reason. As soon as it went outside it became a permanent outdoor toy since the wheels got a little chewed up on the driveway and road and I'm sure it would scratch up the floors now. It's very durable, has been ridden by people of all sizes, even over 200lbs, and hasn't been a problem. My son is now over 5 feet tall so he has to bend his knees up a bit, but it's worth it to keep driving. A good purchase for us, years of fun.

My niece actually got one of these from her aunt and I saw her have a ton of fun with it. I bought one for my 2.5 year old nephew so that he could actually ride one at his house. Same result, he had a ton of fun. It's been about 6 months and to this day he still rides it around the house. The build quality seems decent, though my niece's had some kind of steering problem after having her PlasmaCar for about 2 years. On that note though, the one I bought my nephew is still fully functioning with no parts broken. It's a good buy at regular price but I'd say a great buy when it is on sale. I got it for $42, it's about $48 at the time of this review. It's a great way to keep kids active and occupied by something other than a digital screen all day! Side note: Both my niece and nephew have only ridden these indoors, I don't know how it would function outside. I'm not even sure if they are meant to be ridden outside, but I'd assume they would function fine outside too. Side note 2: I rode my niece's for about 10 minutes and I'm not going to lie, I had a ton of fun!

MERRY Christmas! I’ve gotten out of the habit of writing reviews BUT Inhad to write one - I bought this as a last second “Santa” gift for my 4 year old, crossing my fingers he would like it. He has a Strider bike and is intermittent on its use, had battery operated cars that use is also rare. Typically he will spend a few minutes here and there, then boredom hits and then it’s here and there usage from then on out. But this thing he has been on for hours today - forcing his mother to dodge as she was emptying the dishwasher as he zooms around the kitchen and living room. He loves it! It also was very simple to put together - I noticed some said the directions were difficult or vague, but I must say, you don’t really need much. The back wheels are labeled with a L and an R - the only thing may if you are unused to the way the bolt on the steering wheel works - think cement bolt or even drywall with the anchors that expand as you insert a screw - same premise. Use a socket set instead of what they give you so you can crank it down good and make sure you put the wide part of the handlebar to the front. It’s very simple and easy - I didn’t use a mallet as recommended but could see the need for some to need it. Don’t know how well it will last, but he loves it, has already spent more time on it then toys that cost many times more, and it hasn’t marked up my hardwood floors - so he’s happy, I’m happy and that’s what matters.

I just got this yesterday for my 3 year old son for Christmas. As others suggested, I purchased the polyurethane wiggle wheels for a smoother ride for in and out of the house. After opening the box, the first thing I did was pull up a YouTube video and watched how to switch out the wheels before complete plasma car assembly and that only took about 5 minutes. It would have taken less time but the back wheels were a little hard to remove. The rest of the assembly only took about 5 more minutes, so BRAVO to the makers of this product. Super easy assembly. Now on to the performance of the plasma car: All I can say is I love this thing. I rode it all over the house while my little one was sleeping before I wrapped it up. With the poly wheels, it doesn't make a sound. Super smooth ride, easy to operate and loads of fun for a 40 year old woman! I can't wait for my son to open this on Christmas morning so I can play with it again!

Fantastic rider!... So fun if you have a sloped driveway, kids love it! It is very impressive at first when you see a little one riding down the slope with a hysterical scream of joy, so just to make it safe have them wear a helmet and some bike protections, this soothes anxious mind :-) actually the rider looks very stable and well balanced even in sharp turns. The choice of color is great, alternative brands cost 20 bucks less, but the award winner is Plasma and we didn't want to even try another one! It comes unassembled and requires only few minutes of work following the instructions (do as they say in the order they say) it is sturdy and really worth it! The only negative thing I see is the noise! Wheels are a bit loud, not obvious at first, but after a repetitive use on the asphalt your ears might demand a break! Age range tested: 3 to 7 boys and girls all really had A LOT of fun!

Totally flippin' awesome! My son received this car for his 1st birthday and I thought it'd be way too big for him. He is in the 5th percentile for size for his age so, although a regular or large 12 month old should fit fine, it just didn't seem like he would. Since assembling the PlasmaCar he has ridden it everyday- about 2 weeks now. At first he totally didn't understand what to do- and why should he- he's just a baby. So I'd try pushing him a little and then I decided to just get on it with him. I'm 5'3" and slightly overweight for reference. The PlasmaCar is long enough but low enough that he can ride it as can I. Even my husband (5'7" 150 lbs) easily fits on it. Now that he has ridden on it numerous times with Mom, and has seen me turning the wheel back and forth, left and right, he started trying to do it himself. Most of the time he just uses his toes to propel himself through the house (we also have an open floor plan and wood floors like other reviewers) but day by day he has been trying to "inertia" himself through the house more and more. I'd say within a week he'll completely have that mastered and he won't even be 13 months by then. It's really that easy to work this thing once you get the hang of it- even a baby can do it! He motors around the house until he hits a wall or table or fridge or what-have-you and then backs up until he hits the next obstacle and then goes forward until he hits something and so on for long periods of time through out the day. Only once has he ever tipped the PlasmaCar over and it was because he was trying to pick something up off the floor but refused to get off the car and was REALLY holding onto the wheel so sheer force took it with him when he bent down. We have a rug in the living room and although it slows the PlasmaCar down, it doesn't stop it from going entirely. Our floors appear to be getting scuffed up from the hard plastic wheels that come standard on the PlasmaCar so we'll be robbing an old pair of rollerblades for rubber wheels and swapping them out soon; before the scuffs become actual scratches. Our older kids had ride-on toys when they were younger too but none this cool and none that will span so many ages/stages/sizes. ALL the other ride-on toys we've had for our three older kids only lasted for a year or so either because they outgrew it or because it was never real interesting in the first place or because it wouldn't go and the kids would give up on it. Now, we can't seem to keep the older kids (ages 7, 9, 11) off the new ride-on toy for the baby! Seriously considering getting a kitchen table that folds up and buying a few more PlasmaCars so they can have fun too. Right now we just stack our kitchen chairs up between meals, fold the high chair, and shove the kitchen table to the side of the room so baby has more room to cruise. We won't be using it outside since we live in the country with a very large gravel driveway so there is no good place for him to use it out there but I imagine it probably goes great on black-top or concrete. Really, I can't say enough good things about the PlasmaCar. I can however say that I paid WAY too much for the orange car. I had been filling my Amazon cart for days with things to buy around Christmas time (my son's birthday is two days after) and this was one of the last purchases I made. In my haste to just get the shopping done and over with on Black Friday I neglected to see that the orange PlasmaCar is twice the price of most of the other ones and I got ripped off! So far we've bought everything in orange, teal or brown for my son so it all matches and vanity just plain got in the way of my wallet that day! Now almost two months after buying the PlasmaCar it's still twice the price of the other colors- heck even some of the PlasmaCars that come with the "premium" wheels don't even cost this much. I also now realize that the PlasmaCar is listed a few different ways on Amazon and it needn't be. The ones listed as "Ride On" are the same as the ones that aren't. Just don't make the mistake of going too cheap and buying a knock-off. Those ones apparently don't get very good reviews and aren't the same thing as an actual PlasmaCar. In summary: Definitely buy this car but price check first!

This toy is awesome! And your kids might like them too... HA! We got a couple of these for our kids, a five year old and the other two years old. The five year old mastered it in no time and jams all over with it. The two year old pushes it with his feet to get speed and then coasts. They both love them. Heck, the neighbor's kids come over to ride them as well. This past Black Friday there was an awesome deal on these Red and Blue PlasmaCars so my wife bought a bunch of these. My son is the hero at birthday parties as he is spreading the love and giving away the BIG AWESOME present! At regular price, the PlasmaCar is not cheap--but it is very well made and will take a beating and last a long time. If your kid (or yourself!) feels the need, the need for speed, I'd suggest getting the Plasma Car Polyurethane Replacement Wheels or you can get the PlasmaCar Blue - Polyurethane Wheels Edition which has the wheels built in. Unfortunately there is no red version with the polyurethane wheels. But the wheels, while costly, are a big improvement. They really get the PlasmaCar moving! I highly recommend the PlasmaCar -- it's one of those toys that will last and bring tons of joy.

Great price and my daughter loves this. They have them at her daycare/preschool and they are fast and agile. They don't use them as intended but kick to get them going then put their feet up and steer. The steering is really responsive, and the higher front wheels help with the varying elevations of our sidewalks and changing surfaces. It obviously works better and quieter on smooth surfaces, but she gets around on the blacktop just fine and drags it over lawn and steps by lifting it up a bit. These are really great for toddlers, my 2+ yr old whips around on this thing like a race car driver. Only suggestion would be to put a hole in the back to mount a flag for visibility or tie a rope for parents to have some more control over stopping for street use for little ones, or helping them stop on slopes. I recommend sneakers with thick rubber front because she wears the front of her shoes off on this from dragging her feet.

Install Flash Player We have older teen daughters that had a coulple of these when they were younger but that was a very long time ago. We moved on a cul-de-sac when they were in grade school and would walk it up the street and ride it down at crazy fast speeds with their friends. Thank God they didn't get hurt but they sure did have fun. I don't remember them ever tipping over. Now we have a 5 year old son and I wasn't sure how he would take to this. He has a Scooter, Electric Go Kart........ He likes fast! So I wasn't sure if he would think this would be a dud. I'm so glad we went for it! The first one I ordered on Amazon, I had to return because the steering wasn't connecting properly for movement. Not sure why. Anyways I ordered a second one through Target and it works fine. Assembly is very easy so I'm not sure what we did wrong on the first order. I purchased the polyurethane wheels here on Amazon for a faster smoother ride. We haven't taken it outside yet cause with winter I want him getting some sort of energy release inside and this is great!!

Today I jazzed this Lime green Original PlasmaCar with lime striped ribbons and a trio of helium balloons and presented it to our Grandson for his 3rd Birthday. He was all smiles and dancing around as he hopped on , trying to get the hang of driving. "Here let me show you ",said his Dad as he climbed aboard and took off around the family room. "No, Andy, I'll show him said his Mom, confiscating it. "You've almost got it" said Grandpa, there's a little trick to it" he said as he stepped in front of Mom's ride and took over. "Cut it out, give the poor boy his present will you, he can do this !" I said to Grandpa. I knew this because I had tried it before putting it in the car to head for the party. " Wiggle the wheel back and forth, there, you've got it " I said to our Birthday Boy. Off he went . "I can doood it !" he said. He doood it. You can doood it too. This lime green PlasmaCar is strong, a lot of fun and kind of reminds me of some kind of carrier from the Starship Enterprise. Highly recommended.
